Important things to know before buying a kit
  • Only buy dome or eyeball cameras - do not buy bullet cameras - they are cheap, often fail, not vandal-proof and can be knocked aside
  • Call Technical Support before you buy - this is very important as dvr hard drives fail and you will need their help
  • Cameras should have at least 600TVL (TV Lines) - this determines picture quality - and the more the better
  • Camera lenses should never be greater than 3.6mm - anything larger and you will have a tiny field of view - i.e. only 5' wide
  • Storage is inexpensive and your dvr should have at least 1tb of space - and for 16 channels at least 2tb
